Four PCB layout considerations for current sensing

Current sensing circuits may work well in prototypes but drift in production or high-temperature operation. The main current path should be short and wide to reduce copper resistance and hot spots. Sensitive analog outputs should be kept away from switching nodes and high dV/dt regions. Ground planes must provide return paths without creating loops that disturb magnetic fields. Sensors and power devices also need thermal spreading paths.
