Altera presents FPGA solutions for industrial intelligence, machine vision, robotics, and edge AI, reflecting a clear trend: reconfigurable hardware remains valuable where low latency, determinism, and parallel processing are required. Compared with general-purpose CPUs, FPGAs can map data paths directly into hardware and reduce unnecessary data movement. Compared with fixed ASICs, they can be reconfigured when algorithms or interfaces change. Industrial vision and edge AI products often face simultaneous changes in models, protocols, and control loops. Reconfigurable platforms reduce hardware iteration risk and will increasingly be delivered with tools, IP, boards, and software stacks.
